Cyber Warfare - The New Agenda

Welcome to the Spoonful of Knowledge University blog site dedicated to Electronic Warfare. The reason that this blog has come into being is to educate academia faculty, military personnel and the general public about this type of warfare that has been looming in the mist for some time. The media is slowly introducing the problems on this war front, but it will still be a while before people end up with a real grasp of this valid concern among many people who depend on computers for their information.
Once people begin to realize that the next wave of criminals are unlike the ones of the past, perhaps they will discuss cyber attacks and what to do about it on a more regular basis. The criminals of the past and the few stragglers of today that remain and still find it viable, make their mark after physically breaking and entering into a dwelling or corporate entity by disabling alarm systems or over-powering the guard. As for the real sinister mind, such criminals blow up entire buildings in effort to leave no trace behind or to just create collateral damage to fit their cause.
Today’s more sophisticated criminal does not believe in wasting energy in jumping over fences and trying to disarm multiple detection systems. It takes too much energy. Instead, it is less time consuming, less risk and greater reward to hack into corporate or government database systems and sell data to an enemy or to just steal the identity of people to create their own shopping spree.
With wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, many men and women place their lives on the line chasing shadows in the War on Terror. Who is the actual enemy? The line has become blurred. The US cannot sustain this type of war forever. Borrowing hundreds of millions of dollars from China each month is not the answer. Is America draining their stockpile of missles, lasers and smart bombs in order to save money due to the cost to maintain the many silos and other bunkers that contain weapons of mass destruction? The cost is extremely high on a daily basis and the faster the U.S. can rid itself of the abundance of supply, the more money can be invested in cyber warfare. This means that many men and women in the service will come home for good.
What does cyber warfare consist of? This is what this blog site is dedicated to define and provide information over time as to what such warfare means to the U.S. Blowing up buildings can be very devestating and thousands of lives can be lost in the process. However, it is more damaging when a cyber terrorist attacks a stock market as one did several weeks ago, or shuts down an electric, nuclear or water power grid; disabling millions of people not just instantaneously, but for weeks and possibly months at a time. Cyber warfare is more devestating than dropping a bomb, and now the President must step up to what he knows is the next wave of threats that can not only cripple an economy, but interrupt our way of life forever.
